10.967 Uniform Regulation and Safety Measures for E-Bikes
The Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) support existing legislation and new proposed legislation to improve e-bike and e-scooter safety, including but not limited to: requiring suggesting the use of helmets, reflective clothing, and proper lighting; implementing operator licensing and registration; mandating license plates and insurance for e-bikes; and advocating for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to ensure the safety of both riders and pedestrians.
MSSNY also seeks collaboration(s) with other organizations that have an interest in public safety and public health in studying hazards and regulations related to e-bikes and e-scooters. (Council 3/9/26).
