180.973 Establishing Standards for EMS Patient Care Report (PCR) Data Collection and Transmission
The Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) advocate for the creation of a statewide protocol requiring all EMS providers to complete and electronically transmit patient care report (PCR) data to receiving hospitals in a timely manner, and the Medical Society of the State of New York work with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), EMS agencies, and hospital systems to develop and implement these protocols, ensuring they include critical patient information such as vital signs, prehospital interventions, and initial assessments. The Medical Society of the State of New York encourage the allocation of resources, including funding and technological support, to EMS agencies to facilitate the adoption of electronic PCR systems capable of real-time data sharing with hospitals, and the Medical Society of the State of New York promote collaboration between EMS agencies, healthcare institutions, and technology providers to ensure interoperability and compliance with data privacy regulations during the transmission of EMS PCR data.
