312.961             Access to and Merger of both the New York State Immunization Information System and the Citywide Immunization Registry

The Medical Society of the State of New York seek legislation or regulation for the merger of the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) and the New York City Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR). The Medical Society of the State of New York seek an immediate change in policy to enable all eligible medical providers to obtain credentials for a single point of access to both NYSIIS and CIR systems until the completion of a merger and, that the Medical Society of the State of New York forward this resolution to the American Medical Association in order to seek legislation for a national immunization registry as well as universal mandatory vaccine reporting for all vaccines administered in the United States and its territories to improve the public health of our society.

Our Medical Society of the State of New York amend policy 312.970 by addition and deletion to read as follows:

The Medical Society of the State of New York will seek legislation or regulation requiring universal reporting of vaccines administered to adults to the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) or the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) within 14 days following administration, either directly or via health information exchanges, and change the requirement for patient permission to opt out reporting of vaccines administered to adults.  (HOD 2025-157, 158)
