70.935 Covered Drugs during Insurance Enrollment Year
The Medical Society of the State of New York will urge the American Medical Association to seek federal legislation or regulation which would prevent Medicare and HMO plans from changing covered drugs during the enrollment year. MSSNY will seek legislation or regulation preventing Pharmacy Benefit Mangers (PBMs) and large pharmacy systems from asking prescribers to change prescriptions during the year unless there was medical evidence that the change would benefit the patient and further that no changes could be imposed on prescribers during the enrollment year (such as a change from brand to generic or from one brand to another).
